Welcome to Beside You Psychology. We are so glad you are here.
Meet your Therapist
Hello!Welcome to Beside You Psychology. I am Jenny Harrison, a registered psychologist, offering perinatal, individual, and couples therapy at my office in Calgary, Alberta, or, virtually, across Alberta.
I feel privileged to support clients in deepening their connection to and understanding of themselves and others. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for success in counselling, and work to foster a safe and understanding connection with clients. Working with me involves setting goals for therapy and tasks to meet those goals. I am grateful to work with individuals and couples who want to gain insight into their ways of being and new tools or resources for living. I hope clients I work with find more clarity, liberty from old patterns, and peace in their lives.
I have been working in mental health since 2012. After becoming a parent in 2014, I developed an interest in perinatal mental health and focused on this area in much of my studies. I currently support individuals with a range of mental health concerns including challenges through the perinatal period.
I hold a BA in psychology from the University of Victoria, a masters in Counselling from the University of Calgary, and am a member of the College of Alberta Psychologists. I have specialized training in several therapeutic modalities including Internal Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Therapy, the Gottman Method, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Compassion Focused Therapy.

The journey to conceive, pregnancy, the transition to parenthood, and the postpartum period can be challenging times. Working with individuals navigating this perinatal period is a passion of mine. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, rage, relationships, or parenting, support is available. I hope, in working together, women find more calm and strength in their perinatal journey.

Life can be difficult. Whether it be family life, work life, social life, or your own internal life (thoughts, feelings, stories, behaviours), I support individuals in deepening their connection with themselves and others. I hope through conversation and reflection we are able to work together, in sessions, to discover thoughts, feelings, patterns, and beliefs that might be causing discomfort. Through exploring these discoveries and fostering self-compassion, my hope is clients leave our work feeling more peaceful, in tune with themselves, and empowered.

Relationships can be hard. Couples often find themselves in ruts of difficult communication patterns or disconnection. In couples sessions with me, the focus is on identifying and overcoming unhelpful communication patterns and habits, learning new ways to share thoughts and feelings, deepening empathy, strengthening friendship. There will always be ups and downs in life and relationships, however my hope is they can be seen as challenges to overcome together rather than difficulties that drive disconnection.
Ready to meet?
I look forward to seeing you!
